ELECTRIFIED DOUBLE TRACKING TRAIN PROJECT
BETWEEN RAWANG AND IPOH - INFRASTRUCTURE PACKAGE
Further to our announcements dated 17 July 2000 and 18 July 2000, DRB-HICOM Berhad (“DRB-HICOM” or “the Company”) wishes to announce that DRB-HICOM had on 2 April 2001 signed a contract document with the Malaysian Government for Infrastructure Works for the Electrified Double Track Project Between Rawang and Ipoh on a Design and Build (Turnkey) concept (“the Project”). The contract covers the design, construction, completion, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the Electrified Double Track Project (Infrastructure Works).
The Infrastructure Works involves the construction of 179.88km of duplicated meter gauge track connecting Rawang to Ipoh (north of Kuala Lumpur) in the KTMB network. It covers the construction of a new track, renewal and realignment of the existing track, replacement of railway bridges, replacement of level crossing with overhead bridges, replacement of existing overhead road bridges, construction of new station yards, new station buildings, new EMU depot and the refurbishment and upgrading of Ipoh Station.
The Infrastructure Works for the Electrified Double Project between Rawang and Ipoh is expected to be completed by December 2003.
The value of the Infrastructure Works component for the Electrified Double Track Project from Rawang to Ipoh is RM2,579,920,005.00.
